The newly elected National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda, has dismissed the relevance of opposition parties in the current political landscape, declaring that the ruling party faces no real challengers at the moment.
Yilwatda made the statement on Thursday during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, shortly after his emergence as APC chairman.
“There is no opposition for now,” he stated, brushing aside the influence of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Labour Party (LP), and African Democratic Congress (ADC).
The former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs said the APC remains unshaken by the activities of rival parties, pointing to their recent performance in off-season governorship elections as evidence of their weakening grip.
“The opposition parties have all failed in recent off-season elections in Edo, Ondo, Kogi, and Imo states,” Yilwatda added.
He insisted that the APC remains the dominant political force in the country and expressed confidence in the party’s continued electoral strength.
