The Federal Fire Service (FFS) has issued a fitness advisory to prospective recruits, urging them to prepare physically and mentally ahead of the release of its recruitment shortlist.
In a notice shared on X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday, the Service advised applicants to maintain a healthy lifestyle while awaiting the next stage of the highly competitive exercise.
Candidates were encouraged to “eat well, take care of their health, sleep well, exercise, and stay calm.”
The statement added humor to its warning, declaring:
“Hunger is not part of the training syllabus. We need fit firefighters, not fainting champions.
Your potbelly won’t fit inside bunker gear.”
Underscoring the tough demands of firefighting, the Service further reminded applicants:
“The fire doesn’t wait for the unfit so prepare well!”
While the FFS has not fixed a date for the release of the shortlist, the health-focused advisory is being viewed as a proactive move to ensure that successful candidates are physically prepared for the rigorous screening process that lies ahead.
