President Bola Tinubu, pledged to implement the recommendations of the upcoming National Youth Conference, emphasizing their potential to drive national development.

This assurance was shared by Rinsola Abiola, the Senior Special Adviser on Citizenship and Leadership, during an appearance on Channels Television’s breakfast program, “The Morning Brief”, on Friday.

Abiola highlighted that the conference, convened by President Tinubu, aims to provide a platform for young Nigerians to actively contribute to the nation’s governance.

She noted, “This is the very first time in our history that we’re having a conference specifically dedicated to young people.

This time, it is about bringing young people together to influence the process of nation-building and national development.

What do we, as young people, want to see?”

She further explained that young Nigerians have long been vocal on social media and other platforms about their concerns and ideas regarding governance, social issues, and the country’s challenges.

“If you’re on social media or watch TV often, you must have noticed that young people have so much to say, offering numerous recommendations about how governance should be conducted, what’s wrong with the country, and what needs to be done to fix it,” Abiola said.

According to Abiola, the National Youth Conference is an opportunity for youth voices to be heard, with President Tinubu firmly committed to acting on any recommendations that promote national development.

“The renewed hope administration, led by President Bola Tinubu, is giving young people the chance to come together, discuss these issues, and put forward recommendations.

The president has given his word that any recommendations made that align with our national development goals will be implemented,” she affirmed.

In his nationwide broadcast on October 1, President Tinubu had announced the creation of a 30-day National Youth Confab to discuss and address the challenges facing Nigerian youths.

The president took another step forward on Monday, inaugurating the Planning Committee for the National Youth Conference at the State House in Abuja.

During the event, President Tinubu assured that ongoing economic reforms are aimed at strengthening the economy for the benefit of Nigeria’s youth, who make up more than 60% of the country’s population.

Samson Itodo, a member of the planning committee, described the president’s initiative as a significant milestone in engaging youths in the country’s development.

He outlined several priority areas for the conference, including political governance, economic transformation, future skills such as Artificial Intelligence, climate change, energy transition, and social cohesion and security.

Itodo explained that the conference framework will incorporate virtual consultations, calls for memoranda, regional town hall meetings, and the Abuja conference itself.
