The Nasarawa State Police Command has apprehended two suspected armed robbers and recovered a stolen vehicle following a swift response to a distress call in Lafia.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Ramhan Nansel, said the arrest was made in the early hours of Saturday after the police received a report of an ongoing robbery.

According to Nansel, at approximately 3:00 a.m., the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of ‘B’ Division, Lafia, received a distress call concerning a robbery incident at a residence in the Shinge area, near Railway Quarters.

The robbers reportedly fled the scene with a Toyota Corolla bearing registration number GRU 106 AE and a Jincheng motorcycle.

“In a swift and coordinated response, the DPO and his patrol team mobilised to the scene,” Nansel stated.

“Acting on intelligence, they intercepted and arrested two suspects Basiru Lawal, male, of Rogo LGA in Kano State, and Dahiru Mohammed, male, of Shinge Quarters in Lafia at Jibo Filling Station along Jos Road, Lafia, in possession of the stolen Toyota Corolla.”

He added that efforts are ongoing to apprehend other fleeing members of the gang and recover the stolen motorcycle.

Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, commended the officers for their prompt action and professionalism. He reaffirmed the command’s dedication to safeguarding lives and property across the state.

The CP also urged residents to support police efforts by reporting suspicious activities in their communities.
