The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Commandant-General, Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, has pledged continued support for Lux Mundi University, Umuahia, particularly for students from less privileged backgrounds.

Dr. Audi made the commitment on Thursday during a tour of Abia State, where he participated in the unveiling of the university’s Senate Building, which has been named in his honour.

The visit coincided with ongoing efforts to strengthen partnerships between the university and international institutions.

While addressing attendees at the event, the NSCDC chief, who also serves as the alternate chairman of the university’s Board of Trustees, assured stakeholders of his readiness to contribute to the university’s growth and the educational advancement of its students.

Highlighting plans for international collaboration, Audi revealed that some nursing students from the institution are being considered for internship opportunities in the United States.

He described the initiative as a means to empower students with practical global exposure, noting the transformative value of knowledge.

The ceremony also featured Maria Santiago, CEO of America Home Health Aid Training Institute, who commended the university’s progress and vision.

Santiago, who had traveled from the U.S. to assess preparations for a student exchange programme, praised the institution’s standard and impact.

She confirmed that 53 students from Lux Mundi University are being profiled for the exchange programme in the United States. “They will definitely return with valuable experiences,” she said, expressing her admiration for the university’s potential.

Santiago was also honoured by the host community, Afaraukwu, with a traditional title — Ugo Oma 1 of Afaraukwu — in recognition of her contributions.

In his remarks, the university’s founder and Pro-Chancellor, Gabriel Okenwa, reiterated the institution’s commitment to promoting societal development through quality education.

Lux Mundi University is the first private university in Umuahia and continues to position itself as a hub for educational innovation and international collaboration.
