His speech focused on the government’s ongoing efforts to tackle economic hardships and pursue key reforms across sectors.
Acknowledging the economic difficulties facing many Nigerians, Tinubu reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to implementing sustainable solutions. “We are working tirelessly to address these challenges,” he stated, emphasizing that progress is already being made.
Tinubu highlighted major reforms in the political and defense sectors, aimed at fostering long-term national development. On the security front, he cited significant achievements in combating terrorism, banditry, and kidnappings, revealing that over 300 commanders from Boko Haram and bandit groups have been neutralized, with operations continuing to eliminate these threats completely.
The President also introduced a new Disaster Relief Fund, designed to pool public and private resources for quicker emergency response, particularly in light of recent flooding.
In a notable highlight, Tinubu disclosed that foreign direct investments exceeding $30 billion have been attracted over the past year, driven by ongoing economic reforms.
Additionally, the Central Bank’s policies have contributed to stabilizing the foreign exchange market and reducing Nigeria’s debt service burden.
Tinubu also shared plans to enforce the Supreme Court’s ruling on local government financial autonomy and reassured the public that efforts to lower the cost of living, especially food prices, are in progress.
He further elaborated on the government’s energy transition initiatives, including the adoption of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) for mass transit, aimed at cutting transportation costs nationwide.
In conclusion, the President announced the launch of a National Youth Conference, a month-long event designed to unite young Nigerians in shaping future policies on education, employment, and social justice.
