The Jigawa State Executive Council has approved a ₦75 billion supplementary budget for the 2025 fiscal year, Governor Umar Namadi’s administration announced on Tuesday.
Hon. Sagir Musa Ahmad, Commissioner for Information, Youth, Sports, and Culture, revealed the decision to reporters following the state’s Executive Council meeting.
He said the supplementary appropriation will be submitted to the State House of Assembly for legislative approval.
Breakdown of the Funds
- State Government: ₦58 billion
- 27 Local Government Councils (LGAs): ₦17 billion
Purpose & Expected Impact
Commissioner Sagir noted that the new funds are intended to respond to “emerging financial needs” and to bolster priority sectors across the state.
He specifically mentioned that the supplementary budget will support both recurrent and capital expenditures in the state and its local governments.
Key areas targeted for enhancement include:
- Education
- Healthcare
- Infrastructure
- Agriculture
- Other developmental projects
Once submitted, the proposal will be reviewed by the Jigawa State House of Assembly in compliance with constitutional budgetary procedures.
