Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, distributed ₦2.93 billion in financial support to 25,500 flood victims, vulnerable persons, and 15,000 small business owners as part of his administration’s recovery and empowerment initiatives.

At a ceremony held at the Government House Banquet Hall in Damaturu, Governor Buni outlined the two major components of the initiative.

“Today’s event marks the launch of two transformative initiatives: Support for 25,500 Flood Victims and Vulnerable Groups with an investment of ₦1.43 billion, providing ₦50,000 to each beneficiary to help rebuild their lives and regain stability,” he said.

He further announced a ₦1.5 billion empowerment program for small businesses to stimulate local economies.

“In recognition of the crucial role of nano and small businesses in driving grassroots economic growth, we are disbursing ₦1.5 billion to support 15,000 small business owners and entrepreneurs.

Each beneficiary will receive ₦100,000 to grow their businesses and sustain their livelihoods,” Buni explained.

The governor emphasized that these initiatives align with his administration’s commitment to protecting vulnerable groups, empowering citizens, and fostering long-term economic resilience.

He pledged continued government efforts in providing free education, accessible healthcare, technological advancements, and economic incentives to improve the living standards of less privileged citizens.

“I assure you that the government will provide all the requirements needed for the successful launch of the proposed Early Childcare Development Education Centre in the state,” he stated.

Governor Buni also reiterated his commitment to transparency and efficiency in the implementation of intervention programs, emphasizing accountability in the disbursement of resources.

The initiative underscores the administration’s dedication to addressing immediate recovery needs and fostering sustainable economic growth across Yobe State.
