A fire incident occurred at the University College Hospital (UCH) in Ibadan, Oyo State, early Sunday morning. The blaze was traced to a spark in a changeover box within the hospital’s medicine laboratory on the third floor, prompting a swift response from on-site staff.
Thanks to the quick response from hospital staff, the fire was swiftly contained, limiting damage to the changeover panel. Firefighters also arrived promptly to ensure the situation was fully under control. No casualties or significant damage were reported, and hospital operations continued without disruption.
The Chief Medical Director, Prof. Jesse Abiodun Otegbayo, reassured the public that safety measures are in place to prevent future incidents and urged them to disregard unrelated images circulating online that falsely depict the fire.
