Defence Minister Vows Full Investigation After DICON Explosion

Nigeria’s Defence Minister Bello Matawalle has committed to a comprehensive investigation into the explosion at the Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON) in Kaduna, characterizing the blast as “a mere accident” while assuring both authorities and local residents that the situation is under control.

In a statement from his Principal Superintendent of Press, Pat Ituke, the minister said the inquiry will seek to determine the cause of the explosion and recommend measures to prevent a recurrence.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday, September 20, 2025. One person was killed and several others injured.
