The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has rejected calls for a reversal of the policies of the President Bola Tinubu-led administration, urging the opposition to bury the thought and instead support the government’s efforts to deliver on its Renewed Hope agenda.

In a response to allegations made by the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), the APC also denied rigging the September 21 governorship election in Edo State, dismissing claims that the ruling party intends to impose a one-party system in Nigeria.

The Board of Trustees (BoT) of the PDP had, on Thursday, accused the APC of manipulating the Edo election as part of a broader plan to transform Nigeria into a one-party state.

Speaking at the PDP national secretariat in Abuja, BoT Chairman Senator Adolphus Wabara expressed concern over the worsening socio-economic conditions in the country, which he attributed to the policies of the APC-led government.

In response, the APC’s Director of Publicity, Alhaji Bala Ibrahim, refuted the allegations during a telephone interview with Daily Trust on Friday, stressing that the ruling party remains committed to democracy.

“The APC as a ruling party is not intending to foist on the country anything that is going to injure democracy,” Ibrahim stated.

“The APC is a progressive party.

It is a party that aims to bring about changes that will deliver the dividends of democracy to the people.

Democracy thrives when there is opposition, but the opposition must be constructive, not destructive.”

Ibrahim emphasized that the APC’s policies are designed to uplift the socio-economic well-being of Nigerians in the near future, and are not detrimental to the people.

He urged the opposition to cease calls for policy reversal and work alongside the government for the betterment of the country.

“The country was heavily bleeding under the leadership of the PDP; they mismanaged the country.

Nigerians are now beginning to understand what change really means,” Ibrahim added.
