Corporal Juliet Chukwu of the Nigeria Police Force has brought international acclaim to Nigeria by winning the Bantamweight Championship at the prestigious Extreme Fighting Championship in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Her victory stands as a testament to her exceptional skill, discipline, and determination, marking a significant achievement on the global stage.

The championship event featured elite fighters from across the world, but Chukwu’s stellar performance set her apart, earning her the coveted title and bringing pride to the nation and the Nigeria Police Force.

Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun commended Chukwu for her remarkable accomplishment, describing it as a reflection of the Force’s commitment to excellence in both policing and sports.

The IGP emphasized that Chukwu’s victory highlights the multifaceted capabilities of police officers, showcasing their potential beyond law enforcement.

The Nigeria Police Force has been making significant strides in promoting sports, particularly Mixed Martial Arts (MMA), under the leadership of IGP Egbetokun.

The introduction of MMA as an official sport within the Force, the establishment of the Nigeria Police MMA Association, and the successful organisation of the maiden IGP MMA Open National Championship are among the initiatives aimed at fostering talent.

This momentum will continue next year, with MMA set to debut at the 14th Biennial Police Games in Oluyole, Oyo State. Chukwu’s victory serves as an inspiration for these efforts, adding to the growing list of accomplishments by the Force in recent years.

Force spokesperson Muyiwa Adejobi highlighted the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to supporting its athletes.

He reaffirmed the IGP’s resolve to create more opportunities for officers to excel in various fields, including sports, while also focusing on organisational development and personnel growth.

The Nigeria Police Force remains dedicated to nurturing talent and providing an environment that encourages officers to achieve excellence in all endeavours.

With achievements like Chukwu’s, the Force continues to set a high standard of excellence, both nationally and internationally.
