The Chief of Naval Staff (CNS), Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla, inaugurated the third edition of “Exercise Crocodile Lift”, a maritime operation designed to enhance amphibious warfare skills.

The exercise, facilitated by French partners, was launched on Saturday aboard the Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) “KADA” at the Western Naval Command in Lagos.

Representing the CNS at the event was the Flag Officer Commanding Naval Doctrine Command, Rear Admiral Shehu Gombe.

Vice Admiral Ogalla highlighted the similarities between “Exercise Crocodile Lift” and the recently concluded “Exercise Grand African Nemo 2024”.

Both initiatives aim to foster collaboration among nations with shared security goals to address transborder maritime threats and challenges using African-led solutions.

“The Nigerian Navy remains committed to regional collaboration in ensuring the safety and security of our shared maritime space, which is vital for prosperous economic activities,” Ogalla stated.

He also lauded the efforts of the Nigerian Navy, regional allies, and international partners in promoting maritime security across the region, as demonstrated during “Exercise Grand African Nemo 2024”.

The exercise underscores the Navy’s readiness to develop operational capacity and strengthen partnerships for improved maritime security in West Africa.
