Security operatives in Anambra State neutralized a suspected armed robber believed to be terrorizing residents along the Nkwo Enugwu-Ukwu Road in Njikoka Local Government Area.

The spokesman for the Anambra State Police Command, Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the incident in a press statement on Saturday, noting that the suspect was killed during a gunfight with joint security operatives.

“Acting on credible intelligence, joint security operatives, comprising Police and Anambra vigilantes, engaged the notorious gang in a gun duel on November 22, 2024, around 10:30 a.m.,” Ikenga stated.

“The operatives neutralized one suspect and recovered an AK-47 rifle, two magazines, and five rounds of live ammunition,” he continued.

He explained that the swift response of the security forces disrupted the gang’s planned activities, forcing other members to flee with gunshot wounds.

“The joint task force has intensified security dominance in the area and launched a manhunt for the fleeing gang members,” Ikenga added.

The Police Command has urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities in their vicinity.

Citizens can contact the Command’s Control Room at 07039194332 or the Police Public Relations Officer at 08039334002.

This decisive action underscores the ongoing efforts of Anambra State’s security forces to combat crime and ensure public safety.
