The Governor of Katsina State Dikko Radda, approved the renovation and upgrade of 34 additional primary healthcare centers (PHCs) across the state.
This move builds on the recent upgrades of 102 PHCs, as part of the Governor’s commitment to establishing one fully functional PHC in each of the state’s 361 political wards by the end of his first term.
Each center is to be equipped with essential infrastructure, medical equipment, and staffing.
On Thursday, Governor Radda inspected ongoing renovation projects across seven Local Government Areas in the Daura Zone, engaging with patients, caregivers, and healthcare workers.
During the visit, he made decisions aimed at enhancing healthcare delivery in the state.
Dr. Shamsuddin Yahaya, Executive Secretary of the Katsina State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, praised the Governor’s dedication to healthcare, describing it as the “bedrock” of community well-being.
Dr. Yahaya noted that, following a recent tour of 11 hospitals in the Funtua Zone, the Governor directed an assessment of staffing needs to ensure adequate human resources at all PHCs.
Dr. Yahaya added, “The Governor has shown strong political will, even with his busy schedule.
We are currently conducting recruitment at the hospital management board, where various healthcare personnel will be hired, including positions at the primary healthcare level.”
