The Federal Government, through the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC), launched its Subnational Tour initiative to advance Ease of Doing Business reforms at the state level.

Scheduled to begin on November 12 in Katsina State, this program is set to foster collaboration between government bodies, private sector stakeholders, and international partners.

According to a statement by PEBEC Secretariat Project Manager, Aimeya Okpebholo, the tour will run from November 12 to 14 and will include town hall sessions, technical workshops, private sector engagement meetings, and a Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) exhibition.

“This tour aligns with PEBEC’s goals to improve Nigeria’s business climate, foster trust and transparency between businesses and regulators, and enhance the perception of the ease of doing business in Nigeria,” the statement reads.

Okpebholo explained that the Subnational Tour aims to create a more favorable environment for business growth by engaging state governments, regulatory agencies, international partners, and the broader business community.

Starting in Katsina, the North-West edition will gather stakeholders from Jigawa, Kaduna, Kano, Kebbi, Sokoto, and Zamfara.

“The tour will bring together government and private sector participants from the North-West to the host state, Katsina, creating direct channels of communication between state governments, sector-specific regulators, and entrepreneurs,” Okpebholo stated.

These sessions will focus on removing bureaucratic barriers and improving service delivery to facilitate smoother, more transparent business operations across the states.

Highlighting the significance of the event, Okpebholo noted, “The PEBEC Subnational Tour is an opportunity for MSMEs, large companies, and entrepreneurs in the North-West region to directly engage with state governments and sector-specific regulators.”

Since its establishment in 2016, PEBEC has launched over 190 reforms to improve Nigeria’s business environment, aiming to cut through bureaucratic constraints and enhance the ease of doing business in the country.
