President Bola Tinubu has extended heartfelt congratulations to the Oba of Benin, His Royal Majesty Oba Ewuare II, in celebration of his 71st birthday and the eighth anniversary of his coronation on October 20.
In a statement released on Saturday by his Special Adviser, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu praised the monarch’s reign since his coronation in 2016, acknowledging the era of peace, understanding, and civility he has fostered within the Benin Kingdom.
Highlighting Oba Ewuare II’s distinguished diplomatic career, which included serving as Nigeria’s ambassador to several countries, including Angola, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, and Italy, Tinubu noted that this experience has deeply influenced the monarch’s wise and graceful leadership.
The President also lauded the Oba’s unwavering commitment to preserving the rich cultural heritage of the Benin Kingdom, specifically praising his tireless efforts to recover priceless artefacts that are vital symbols of the kingdom’s history and identity. “His relentless efforts to return priceless artefacts reflect his deep love for his people and their heritage,” Tinubu said.
In addition to cultural preservation, Tinubu commended Oba Ewuare II’s counsel to leaders in both public and private sectors, and his advocacy for participatory democracy, which continues to inspire hope for a brighter future in the kingdom.
Concluding his message, Tinubu prayed for continued prosperity, good health, and happiness for the Oba, his family, and the Benin Kingdom, stating, “May the Kingdom thrive under the wise and benevolent leadership of Oba Ewuare II.”
