The National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) is positioning itself to become Nigeria’s premier innovation and technology transfer agency, according to its Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Khalil Halilu.
In a statement released on Saturday by NASENI’s Director of Information, Mr. Olusegun Ayeoyenikan, Halilu reaffirmed his dedication to advancing the agency’s role in the country’s technological development.
“I made a promise in 2023 that I would take NASENI products from the shelves to the market. One year later, it’s a case of promise made and kept,” Halilu said, reflecting on the strides made under his leadership.
He revealed that NASENI has introduced 36 market-ready products, including solar irrigation pumps, electric vehicles, and smart home systems. The agency is also preparing to enhance accessibility to these innovations by establishing a showroom where people can purchase its products directly.
“We want to have a showroom where people can walk in and buy in retail, and we are in the process of setting that up soon,” Halilu added.
He attributed much of NASENI’s recent achievements to collaboration, emphasizing the importance of partnerships in its technology transfer initiatives.
“We collaborate, we do technology transfer, we domesticate and commercialize together,” he said, highlighting the agency’s work with strategic partners and Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) that have been crucial in bringing products to market.
Looking ahead, Halilu shared his vision for the agency’s future. “We are going to have a better NASENI, focusing on the socio-economic development of our nation, Nigeria, and the fulfilment of the Renewed Hope Agenda of the Federal Government,” he stated.
His ambition is not only to elevate NASENI’s profile but also to ensure that its innovations make a meaningful contribution to Nigeria’s economic growth.
