The Chairman of the National Population Commission (NPC), Aminu Yusuf, has approved the appointment of Usman Babangida as Special Adviser on Media and Publicity.
The appointment is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the Commission’s communication architecture and enhance public engagement as the NPC continues to play a central role in national planning, data management and population-related reforms.
Observers in media and policy circles say the choice of Babangida underscores the Commission’s resolve to deepen strategic communication, improve information dissemination and foster clearer engagement with stakeholders and the general public.
In his new role, Babangida is expected to support the Chairman in articulating the Commission’s vision, policies and programmes, while also reinforcing transparency, public trust and effective media relations.
The development has been widely welcomed as a step towards repositioning the NPC’s public communication in line with global best practices and the growing demand for accurate, timely and people-centred information management.
Meanwhile, the Editorial Board and management of The Blinkers magazine, under the leadership of its Publisher and Chief Executive Officer, Baba Alhaji Othman, have congratulated Babangida on his appointment, praying Allah SWT to grant him wisdom and courage in the discharge of his new responsibilities.
