The Kano State Police Command has officially banned all Durbar activities during the 2025 Eid-El-Fitr celebrations, citing security threats and the need to maintain public order.

The announcement was made by Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Adamu Bakori during a press briefing at the Bompai Police Headquarters on Friday.

He explained that intelligence reports indicated possible plans by certain groups to exploit the Durbar for disruptive activities, prompting the decision in consultation with the Kano State Government and other stakeholders.

To ensure a peaceful celebration, CP Bakori assured the public that security measures had been strengthened, particularly at Eid prayer grounds.

Worshippers were urged to comply with security guidelines, including avoiding suspicious objects and adhering to the strict ban on horse riding (Kilisa), car racing, and reckless driving. Parents and guardians were also advised to prevent their children from being used by individuals seeking to cause unrest.

The police further called on residents to collaborate with security agencies and report any suspicious activities to authorities.

The decision follows an earlier statement by the 15th Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, who announced the suspension of Sallah Durbar activities in the interest of peace.

His decision came amid growing concerns of potential clashes, as the 16th Emir of Kano, Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi, had also begun preparations for Sallah celebrations following directives from Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.

With tensions surrounding the emirate and the approaching festivities, the police are urging the public to prioritize peace and unity during the celebrations.
