According to Taofiq, the accident took place when the commercial bus collided with the private car after the driver reportedly lost control due to excessive speeding.

“The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority has once again demonstrated its unwavering commitment to public safety by rescuing 14 victims from a devastating road crash at Ilaje, inward Iyana-Oworonshoki, along the Third Mainland Bridge,” Taofiq said.

“The incident involved a Mazda commercial bus (XN 997 KTU) that was speeding recklessly, causing the driver to lose control and crash into a moving Toyota Yaris (11150 DLA).

The collision resulted in multiple casualties, requiring immediate emergency response,” he continued.

Taofiq praised the swift actions of LASTMA officers and the Lagos State Ambulance Service (LASAMBUS), who worked together to extricate the victims from the wreckage.

The 14 survivors, including the commercial bus driver, were promptly transferred to LASAMBUS personnel and rushed to Gbagada General Hospital for medical treatment.
