The Federal Government has reaffirmed its commitment to improving the welfare of Nigeria Police personnel to enhance internal security and combat terrorism, banditry, and other criminal activities.
According to a statement by the Deputy Director, Information and Public Relations, Bolaji Kazeem, the improved welfare package is part of broader efforts to bolster national security.
Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Police Affairs, Dr. Anuma Ogbonnaya, reiterated this commitment during a meeting with the ministry’s management and staff shortly after assuming office. He emphasized the crucial role of welfare in enabling police officers to perform their duties effectively.
“We can change the narratives and bring smiles to the faces of the wives, children, and police officers across the country,” he said.
“When you joke with the welfare of the police, you will have insecurity. We must work together to address the challenges they face.”
Dr. Ogbonnaya also reaffirmed his dedication to implementing President Bola Tinubu’s 8-Point Agenda for the police force, stressing the ministry’s role in ensuring internal security through effective policies and support.
To achieve this, he urged directorate staff and stakeholders to collaborate with him, promising an inclusive and open-door policy to enhance service delivery.
“I will run an open-door policy, a well-inclusive administration where everybody will be carried along,” he assured.
