The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has arrested Adam Yusuf, a Deputy Commandant of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Kogi State, over alleged corruption.

In a statement released on Friday, ICPC spokesperson Demola Bakare confirmed that Yusuf, who had been evading arrest, was apprehended at his residence in Gwagwalada, Abuja. He is now set to face prosecution.
The commission further revealed that investigations uncovered a complex corruption scheme allegedly orchestrated by a retired Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Usman Jibrin, in collaboration with former Brigadier General Ishaya Bauka Gangum.

According to the ICPC, the scheme involved the illegal diversion of over ₦3 billion in public funds through 92 fictitious companies, none of which were registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC).
The statement read: “Investigations by the ICPC uncovered a sophisticated scheme allegedly masterminded by retired Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Usman Jibrin, alongside former Brigadier General Ishaya Bauka Gangum.”

“The scheme reportedly involved the illegal diversion of over ₦3 billion in public funds through 92 fictitious companies. Further investigations traced the laundered funds to entities such as Lahab Integrated and Gate Coast Properties, among others. The illicit proceeds were allegedly used to acquire over 18 properties, including multiple filling stations.”

The ICPC noted that four of the identified properties have already been forfeited to the government, while legal proceedings are ongoing regarding the remaining assets. The commission also vowed to intensify efforts to track down other suspects still at large.
