The Nigeria Police Force, successfully thwarted an armed bandit attack in Katsina State, neutralizing seven bandits and recovering 109 stolen livestock in a swift and decisive operation.
According to a press release from the Force Headquarters on Monday, the operation was carried out on January 18 after the Dutsinma Divisional Police Headquarters received a distress call about an impending attack on Ruwan Doruwa Village in Dutsinma Local Government Area.
Police operatives, in collaboration with other security agencies, swiftly mobilized to the area and engaged the heavily armed bandits in a fierce gun battle.
Seven bandits were neutralized during the confrontation, while others fled, abandoning 109 rustled livestock.
The livestock were later returned to their rightful owners.
Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, praised the intelligence-driven approach of the police, describing the operation as a significant step in the fight against banditry and violent crimes.
“This operation is a clear demonstration of our commitment to confronting armed banditry head-on.
The swift response of our operatives to the distress call underscores their dedication to protecting the citizens of Katsina State,” ACP Adejobi stated.
He added, “By neutralizing the bandits and recovering the stolen livestock, we have disrupted criminal activities in the region, protecting lives and livelihoods.”
The success of the operation highlights the growing effectiveness of intelligence-led policing as part of Nigeria’s broader security strategy.
The incident is one of many recent victories in the ongoing effort to combat banditry, human trafficking, armed robbery, and other criminal activities nationwide.
ACP Adejobi reaffirmed the police’s dedication to maintaining safety and urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities.
