A Police Inspector, Mohammed Bulama, attached to the Police Mobile Force (PMF) 41 in Yobe State, has been arrested for fatally stabbing a 39-year-old civilian, Abdulmalik Dauda, in Damaturu, the state capital.
The incident, which occurred on September 29, 2024, reportedly stemmed from a heated argument between Bulama and Dauda over unresolved transactions in the Zango area of Damaturu. In the course of the altercation, Bulama allegedly stabbed Dauda in the chest, resulting in his death.
Yobe State Police Command spokesperson, Dungus Abdulkarim, confirmed the arrest of the officer and the commencement of an investigation into the homicide. He noted that the Commissioner of Police, Garba Ahmed, has ordered an immediate inquiry into the incident and that Bulama remains in police custody pending disciplinary action and prosecution.
CP Garba Ahmed, while condemning Bulama’s actions, extended his condolences to the family of Abdulmalik Dauda and assured the public that justice would be served.
