Aderinoye Queen Christmas, a former beauty queen wanted by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), has surrendered to the Lagos State Command after evading capture for nearly eight months.
The Director of Media and Advocacy for the NDLEA, Femi Babafemi, made this announcement in a statement released on Sunday.
The suspect, born Oluwadamilola Aderinoye, had been declared wanted by the agency in January following her escape from a raid at her Lekki residence.
The operation, conducted on January 24, 2024, at her apartment in Oral Estate, was based on credible intelligence indicating her involvement in illicit drug activities.
Babafemi explained that Aderinoye, who previously held the title of Miss Commonwealth Nigeria Culture 2015/2016 and is the founder of the Queen Christmas Foundation, was found to be in possession of significant quantities of illegal substances.
“Recovered from her home during the search, which was witnessed by estate officials, included 606 grams of Canadian Loud, a synthetic strain of cannabis, an electronic weighing scale, large quantities of drug packaging materials, a black RAV 4 SUV with Lagos registration KSF 872 GQ, and her picture frame among other items,” Babafemi stated.
Aderinoye, who claimed she had been hiding in Akure, Ondo State since January, finally surrendered to the NDLEA on Wednesday, August 28th.
In addition to this development, the NDLEA also conducted major operations in Lagos and Rivers States, intercepting hard drugs worth N17.9 billion.
The seizures at the Onne and Tincan seaports included 31,124,600 tramadol 225mg pills and bottles of codeine-based syrup.
