The Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has appointed Haruna Dayaya as the new Emir of Ningi.

This announcement was made in a press release issued on Sunday by the Governor’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mukhtar Gidado, following the governor’s approval.

According to the statement, Dayaya, the eldest son of the late Emir Yunusa Danyaya, has been named the 17th Emir of Ningi.

The statement further explained, “This decision is in exercising the powers conferred on him (the governor) by Cap.

24 Item 3 (1) of the laws of Bauchi State of Nigeria (Appointment of Emirs/Chiefs and Deposition 1991) and the recommendation of the kingmakers.”

The appointment was formally communicated through a letter signed by the Secretary to the Bauchi State Government, Barrister İbrahim Mohammed Kashim.

Gidado expressed the Bauchi State Government’s confidence in the new Emir’s ability to uphold the legacy of his late father, particularly in promoting unity, peace, and development within the Ningi Emirate and Bauchi State as a whole.

He also reiterated the government’s commitment to supporting traditional institutions, recognizing their vital role in maintaining peace and progress in the communities.

Haruna Dayaya, who was born in Ningi in 1956, is the immediate past Chiroman Ningi.

He succeeds his father, the 17th Emir, Yunusa Danyaya, who passed away on August 24, 2024, after 46 years on the throne. The late Emir died at the age of 88 and was buried in accordance with Islamic rites.
