Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has shared a deeply personal account of his journey from poverty-stricken beginnings in Lagos to international football stardom, revealing why he regularly returns to the neighborhood that raised him.

Born and raised in Olusosun, one of Lagos’ most challenging areas, Osimhen endured severe hardships as a child — a period he described as a life he “wouldn’t wish on anyone, not even his worst enemy.”

The loss of his mother compounded the family’s struggles, but he remained determined to succeed against all odds.

Now a global football sensation who recently secured a move to Turkish giants Galatasaray, Osimhen hasn’t forgotten where he came from.

After every football season, he makes it a point to revisit Olusosun — not out of nostalgia, but out of loyalty to the people and place that shaped him.

Speaking in a video interview on YouTube, the Nigerian forward emphasized the importance of remembering his roots. “Many people there still know me, and they know what my family went through,” he said.

“My experiences there made me stronger. I fought my way out of what I feel was more than just the trenches.”

He added that his return is not just symbolic but meant to offer hope to the children still living in the same environment he once did.

“I want them to see that success is possible. You just have to keep believing, keep praying for grace, and continue working hard at whatever you do best,” he said.

Osimhen also spoke about the emotional journey that led him from Olusosun to Abuja and eventually to Europe, describing it as overwhelming yet necessary.

His message to young Nigerians is clear: with faith, perseverance, and dedication, their dreams too can become reality.

His story stands as a powerful reminder of the strength of community, the importance of resilience, and the unwavering connection to one’s origins — no matter how far success may carry you.
