Administered by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), the Chevening programme offers fully funded one-year master’s degrees at leading universities across the UK.
The scholarship targets individuals with a strong track record of leadership, academic excellence, and a commitment to driving positive change in their home countries and globally.
According to a statement from the British High Commission in Abuja, the Head of the Scholarships Unit at the FCDO, Emma Hennessey, emphasised that the programme is designed to empower future leaders who can make a real difference in the world.
She noted that the selection process is highly competitive, focusing on applicants with exceptional leadership and networking abilities, as well as the potential to influence change in their communities.
British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Richard Montgomery, highlighted the value of the programme, describing Chevening as more than just a scholarship.
He said it serves as a gateway to a powerful international network of changemakers, innovators, and leaders who are shaping the future.
