The Kebbi State Police Command has confirmed the death of two officers during a gun battle with Lakurawa bandits who attacked Alhaji Lawal Block Farm and nearby Fulani settlements in Natsini village, along the Argungu-Kangiwa road.

In a statement by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Nafiu Abubakar, the incident occurred after the bandits invaded the area, prompting a swift response from the Police Safer Highway patrol team.

“Upon receiving the distress call, our officers engaged the bandits in a fierce gun duel, forcing them to flee into the forest with gunshot wounds,” Abubakar said.

Despite the tragic loss, the police recovered some of the stolen cattle from the assailants.

The Commissioner of Police, Kebbi State Command, Bello Sani, expressed deep sorrow over the loss of the two officers. He condemned the attack and prayed for the repose of their souls.

Following the incident, the CP conducted an on-the-spot assessment of the scene and visited the Emir of Argungu, Alhaji Sama’ila Mera, to offer condolences and brief him on efforts to combat criminal activities in the area.

“The Kebbi State Police Command remains committed to safeguarding lives and property while ensuring justice for the fallen officers,” Sani affirmed.

The Command reiterated its resolve to intensify security operations in the region and urged residents to remain vigilant, report suspicious activities, and support ongoing efforts to tackle banditry in Kebbi State.
