Abuja – “GOD SAVED ME TO MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN” – Donald J. Trump 20th January 2025.

The return of Donald J. Trump to the presidency as the 47th President of the United States is more than a political milestone—it is a historic triumph of resilience, faith, and an unyielding commitment to his ideals. His journey back to the pinnacle of power, after one of the most contentious exits in modern American history, offers profound lessons about perseverance, leadership, and the evolving dynamics of global politics.

The path was fraught with unparalleled challenges, controversies, and threats that would have deterred even the most seasoned politicians and contemporary leaders. Yet, Trump not only endured but emerged stronger, with a renewed sense of purpose and vision.

Trump’s comeback unfolded in a climate of intense scrutiny and scepticism. The media landscape played a central role in shaping the narrative around his first term, often portraying him as polarizing and divisive. The unrelenting media coverage—ranging from his policies to his personal demeanour—created an atmosphere of sustained hostility. Accusations of misinformation, sensationalism, and bias ran rampant, and Trump’s direct confrontations with major media outlets became a hallmark of his presidency. Critics labelled him as a disruptor, while supporters lauded him for calling out systemic bias. In retrospect, his willingness to engage in this battle accentuates a core aspect of his character: the refusal to conform to political norms at the expense of his principles. This unrelenting defiance became a key driver in his ability to galvanize a loyal base, even in the face of what seemed like insurmountable odds.

Politically, Trump’s return was equally extraordinary. The aftermath of the 2020 election saw him face significant political challenges, including his impeachment – impeached twice during his single term in office. In each case, he was acquitted on all counts by the Senate, accusations of electoral interference, and the fallout from the January 6 Capitol incident. Many declared his political career over. Yet, Trump used these moments not as setbacks but as opportunities to regroup and reassess. His post-presidency strategy revealed a savvy political tactician who recognized the need to reframe his message. Focusing on issues like economic recovery, border security, and national sovereignty—topics that resonated deeply with a wide swath of Americans—Trump rebuilt his political platform, ensuring his relevance in a rapidly changing political landscape. His ability to adapt and reconnect with the American electorate was nothing short of remarkable.

Socially, Trump’s return was met with both fervent support and intense resistance. His controversial stances on race, immigration, and social justice fuelled nationwide debates, protests, and movements that further polarized an already divided nation. Yet, Trump’s appeal to millions of Americans remained rooted in his outsider persona—a leader unafraid to challenge the status quo and confront issues many felt were neglected by traditional politicians. For his supporters, his resilience in the face of widespread criticism made him a symbol of their frustrations, aspirations, and hope for a different kind of leadership.

Perhaps one of the most harrowing episodes in Trump’s journey back to the presidency was the assassination attempt on his life. This chilling moment highlighted the stakes of his polarizing political career and the lengths to which some were willing to go to silence his voice. Despite the grave threat, Trump’s response was marked by resolve and a deepened faith in divine protection. For many, his calm demeanour in the aftermath of such a dire incident symbolized his trust in God and his unshakable belief that his mission was far from over.

The attempt on his life became a rallying point, solidifying his position as a figure of resilience and conviction. It underscored the fragility of democracy while reinforcing the importance of free speech and the right to political dissent without fear of violence.

On the global stage, Trump’s return has sent shockwaves across nations. His presidency represents a challenge to the established norms of diplomacy and international relations. Trump’s focus on “America First” policies, his unorthodox style of engagement with world leaders, and his renegotiation of trade agreements have redefined how global power dynamics are perceived. His second term is a critical moment for the world to examine the balance between nationalism and globalism, sovereignty and collaboration, and the evolving definition of leadership in the 21st century.

This journey—from the depths of controversy to the heights of a historic return—offers invaluable lessons for humanity. It reminds us that leadership is not the absence of failure or criticism but the ability to rise above challenges with faith, courage, and determination.

As Muslims, and as most definitely as it is associated with other faith – Leadership, power, and authority are decreed by Allah SWT, this is stated in the Quran: “Say, ‘O Allah, Owner of Sovereignty, You give sovereignty to whom You will and You take sovereignty away from whom You will.'” (Surah Al-Imran 3:26). Thus, any leader’s rise, including Trump’s return to the White House, is ultimately in alignment with Allah’s divine will and plan.

For Trump, the fusion of resilience and faith was his greatest weapon. Despite the unrelenting barrage of opposition, he remained anchored in his conviction that his mission was divinely guided. His return as the 47th President of the United States stands as a powerful testament to the idea that faith and resilience, when coupled with a steadfast commitment to one’s principles, can overcome even the most formidable challenges.

In a world fraught with uncertainty and division, Trump’s second coming serves as both a moment of reflection and a call to action for leaders and citizens alike. It challenges us to rethink the nature of leadership, to embrace resilience in the face of adversity, and to recognize that the pursuit of greatness often requires the courage to chart a path that others may fear to follow. For Donald J. Trump, this is not merely a return to power—it is the realization of a journey that redefines what it means to lead, inspire, and persevere.
