Nigeria’s sports minister, John Enoh, has indicated that the appointment of a new head coach for the Super Eagles is imminent. During an appearance on *Politics Tonight* on Channels TV, Enoh expressed optimism that a decision will soon be made, marking the end of the search for a replacement for Finidi George, who resigned two months ago.
With the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Benin Republic fast approaching, pressure has been mounting on the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to fill the vacant coaching position. Enoh, aware of the urgency, assured fans that the decision would come “sooner rather than later.”
Several high-profile candidates, both local and foreign, have been linked to the position, including Herve Renard, Eric Chelle, Samson Siasia, and Salisu Yusuf. However, the NFF has not yet made an official announcement.
As the football community eagerly awaits the new head coach, hopes are high that the appointment will lead to a successful AFCON qualifying campaign for the Super Eagles.
