The Sokoto State Police Command has assured residents of a peaceful and secure environment during the Christmas and New Year celebrations.
This assurance came through a statement released on Tuesday by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Ahmad Rufai.
The Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Musa, extended his goodwill to the Christian faithful while reiterating the commitment of the police to safeguarding lives and property before, during, and after the festive season.
According to the statement, the police, in collaboration with other security agencies and stakeholders, have put measures in place to ensure a hitch-free celebration.
To bolster these efforts, sufficient personnel, including conventional police and tactical teams, have been deployed across strategic locations in the state.
The personnel will be equipped with necessary logistics and are expected to maintain professionalism and courtesy while carrying out their duties.
Additionally, Area Commanders, Departmental Heads, and Divisional Police Officers have been directed to conduct both overt and covert security operations to guarantee the safety of residents.
Security arrangements have also been extended to places of worship, recreational centers, and other public spaces, with proactive measures in place at identified trouble spots.
