Global music stars Shakira and Burna Boy will perform the official song of the 2026 FIFA World Cup at the tournament’s opening ceremony in Mexico.
The pair are scheduled to take the stage at the iconic Estadio Azteca in Mexico City on June 11, ahead of the tournament opener between Mexico and South Africa.
They will perform Dai Dai, the official anthem of the competition. The title, an Italian expression, translates to “let’s go” or “come on”.
Joining them at the opening ceremony in Mexico will be Colombian reggaeton star J Balvin and South African singer-songwriter Tyla.
FIFA has planned separate opening ceremonies across each of the tournament’s three host nations — Mexico, the United States and Canada — before their respective opening matches.
In Canada, acclaimed singers Michael Bublé and Alanis Morissette will headline festivities at BMO Field in Toronto before Canada’s opening match against Bosnia and Herzegovina on June 12.
Meanwhile, in the United States, pop superstar Katy Perry and rapper Future are set to perform at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles before the United States face Paraguay.
Shakira is also expected to feature prominently later in the tournament, having been announced as one of the headline performers for the Super Bowl-style half-time show at the World Cup final on July 19.
The Colombian superstar will share the stage with pop icon Madonna and K-pop sensation BTS during the showpiece event, adding further star power to what is expected to be the biggest FIFA World Cup in history.
