Niger North Senator and Chairman of the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs, Senator Abubakar Sani Bello, has donated ₦8 million to the families of vigilante members killed in the recent banditry attack in Kaboji Community, Mashegu Local Government Area of Niger State.

A delegation representing the Senator — including his former Commissioner for Education, Hajiya Fatima Madugu; Legislative Aide I, Comr. Mohammed Sani Yahya; and Personal Assistant, Hon. Ali Qira — presented the funds during a condolence visit. They were received by the Chairman of Mashegu Local Government, Hon. Umar Jibrin Igade, and his vice. The money was handed to the District Head of Kaboji for distribution, with each bereaved family receiving ₦500,000.

While delivering the Senator’s message, Comr. Mohammed Sani Yahya said the attack was “not just on the community, but an assault on the Senator, the state, and the entire nation,” stressing that “an attack on one is an attack on all.”

Senator Sani Bello described the slain vigilantes as heroes who demonstrated exceptional courage and selflessness in defending their community. He said their sacrifice continues to inspire hope and strengthen the resolve of residents that criminal elements will be defeated through unity and resilience.

The Senator urged residents to remain vigilant, support security agencies, and cooperate with ongoing government efforts to identify and eliminate terrorists from their hideouts. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to restoring peace and securing all communities across Niger North.

Mashegu LG Chairman, Hon. Umar Jibrin Igade, expressed gratitude to Senator Sani Bello for his consistent support and deep concern for the safety and wellbeing of the people. He noted that the financial assistance would provide relief to the grieving families and boost the morale of local security volunteers.

The District Head of Kaboji also conveyed the community’s appreciation, describing the Senator’s intervention as timely and compassionate, and a clear message that the sacrifices of the fallen vigilantes will not be forgotten.
