The Seattle Seahawks delivered a commanding performance to defeat the New England Patriots 29–13 on Sunday, securing their second Super Bowl title at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California.
Quarterback Sam Darnold capped a remarkable career turnaround, throwing for a touchdown and about 200 yards to guide Seattle to victory on the NFL’s biggest stage.
“It’s unbelievable. Everything that has happened in my career, but to do it with this team, I wouldn’t want it any other way,” Darnold said.
The Seahawks’ triumph was built on a dominant defensive display and a historic outing by kicker Jason Myers, who converted five field goals — the most by any player in a Super Bowl.
Running back Kenneth Walker played a pivotal role, rushing for 135 yards and earning the game’s Most Valuable Player award.
“We went through a lot of adversity this year, but we came together and stuck together and this is what we got,” Walker said after the game.
The Patriots struggled offensively, with rookie quarterback Drake Maye sacked six times and throwing two interceptions. Reflecting on the loss, he said:
“I’d like to have the game back and go back to the beginning and redo it.”
After a tight contest with no touchdowns in the first three quarters, the game came alive in the final period, but Seattle’s late surge sealed a comfortable win. The victory also avenged the Seahawks’ defeat to New England in their previous Super Bowl meeting in 2015.
The event, watched by an estimated 120 million viewers, also featured a halftime performance by global music star Bad Bunny, marking the first Super Bowl show performed entirely in Spanish.
Seattle’s head coach Mike Macdonald praised the unity of his squad following the victory.
“Just the best team I’ve ever been around, the closest, the toughest, most connected team I’ve ever been on.”
