The Kaduna State Police Command has invited former Governor Nasir El-Rufai and several leaders of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for questioning over allegations of criminal conspiracy, incitement of public disturbance, mischief, and causing grievous harm.

According to an invitation letter signed by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Criminal Investigation, Zubairu Abdullahi, El-Rufai is expected to appear alongside key ADC members, including the party’s North-West Chairman, Ja’afaru Sani.

“This Department is currently investigating the above-mentioned case involving the following members of your party. You are requested to come along with them to SCID to clarify allegations reported against them by the complainants on 8th September, 2025,” the letter partly read.

Others listed in the summons include Bashir Saidu, Ubaidullah Mohammed (also known as Mikiya 30), Nasiru Maikano, Aminu Abita, and Ahmed Rufa’i Hussaini (Mikiya).

However, ADC leaders said they had not been formally served with the invitation, claiming they only learned about it through social media reports.

The development comes days after suspected thugs attacked the inauguration of a transition committee formed by a coalition of opposition parties under the ADC in Kaduna. Armed with cutlasses, clubs, and stones, the assailants disrupted proceedings and vandalised property at the venue.

The coalition comprises members of an All Progressives Congress (APC) faction opposed to the state leadership, as well as representatives of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Social Democratic Party (SDP), New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Labour Party (LP), and ADC.

Despite the violence, the inauguration went ahead under tense conditions.

Kaduna Police Command spokesperson, DSP Mansir Hassan, blamed El-Rufai for the unrest, alleging that the former governor failed to notify security agencies about the gathering despite repeated warnings.
