Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, suspended the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Samson Osagie, along with the Chairman of the Local Government Service Commission, Damian Lawani, over allegations of serious official and financial infractions.
The Secretary to the State Government, Musa Ikhilor, announced the suspension in a statement on Thursday, stating that the decision takes immediate effect pending the outcome of an investigation.
“It is hereby announced for the information of the general public that Governor Monday Okpebholo has approved the suspension from office of the Chairman of Edo Local Government Service Commission, Damian Lawani, and Commissioner for Justice, Samson Osagie, over allegations of grave official and financial infractions,” the statement read.
The governor has also directed the establishment of an investigative committee to examine the allegations and make appropriate recommendations.
The suspension of Osagie and Lawani comes less than three months after their appointments, highlighting the administration’s commitment to transparency and accountability in governance.
