The Ohanaeze Ndigbo has strongly criticized former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, for advocating the use of force to seize power from President Bola Tinubu, calling his remarks a threat to democracy

In a statement, Ohanaeze’s President-General, Okechukwu Isiguzoro, reaffirmed the Igbo socio-political group’s unwavering support for Tinubu’s administration and its policies. He described Amaechi’s remarks as a direct threat to democracy and national stability.

“Amaechi’s assertion that Nigerians should ‘snatch power’ from the president is not only reckless but also capable of disrupting the peace and civility enjoyed across Nigeria,” Isiguzoro stated.

He further condemned Amaechi’s controversial claim that politicians must be willing to “steal, maim, and kill” to retain power, warning that such rhetoric endangers the fabric of Nigerian society.

“We condemn in the strongest possible terms the reckless and incendiary comments made by Chibuike Amaechi against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” Isiguzoro declared.

He stressed that the Igbo people would never support any political conspiracy aimed at undermining the legitimacy of an elected president.

Reiterating Ndigbo’s full backing of Tinubu’s leadership, Isiguzoro urged Amaechi to retract his “divisive comments” and desist from making statements that could threaten national unity.

“Our resolve is steadfast—we remain committed to fostering peace, stability, and effective governance in Nigeria. The aspirations of the Igbo people align with a future built on legitimate leadership, respect for democratic processes, and a shared vision for a prosperous Nigeria,” he concluded.
