The National Examinations Council (NECO) announced on Wednesday that it has fully completed payments to the 72,138 examiners who served as ad hoc staff for the 2024 School-Based Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE).
In a statement issued by Acting Director of Information and Public Relations, Azeez Sani, NECO confirmed that payments began on October 4, 2024, using a bank-by-bank approach to streamline reconciliation and ensure smoother transactions. “As of Wednesday, November 13, 2024, all examiners have received their allowances according to the Council’s payment schedule,” the statement read.
NECO clarified that some delays were due to incorrect bank details initially provided by some examiners, but these issues have now been resolved with all 24 banks involved in the payment process.
The Council also addressed recent social media claims alleging a deliberate withholding of payments, dismissing them as “false.” It urged examiners to seek direct clarification from NECO on any issues related to their allowances rather than turning to social media.
Reaffirming its commitment to its examiners, NECO expressed gratitude for their contributions, emphasizing that it values their role in the examination process and is committed to honoring their entitlements.
