Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, Just a day after his swearing-in, directed contractors to promptly return to various sites and begin repairs on damaged road sections across Benin City.

Governor Okpebholo issued this directive on Wednesday while inspecting the Upper Mission Extension Road near Aduwawa Junction and the Ramat Park area in Benin.

Observing the poor road conditions, he pledged that roadwork would commence immediately, aligning with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s renewed hope agenda, which aims to restore hope for Edo residents.

“During the campaigns, I promised to hit the ground running.

Today, I ordered contractors back to the sites.

We have no time to waste,” the Governor stated.

“There is only one dry season in a year, and now is the time to act,” he continued, emphasizing that the people of Edo State deserve good, navigable roads.

The initial phase of roadwork will cover the 7.5-kilometer Temboga Road, the area from Lucky Way Junction by Aduwawa, and the Ramat Park/Slope Axis, with further projects planned for Eyaen Road and Obadan Junction on the Benin/Auchi Expressway.

Governor Okpebholo, inaugurated on October 12 alongside his deputy Dennis Idahosa, had highlighted road construction as a key priority in his inaugural address.

His day concluded with the official opening of a branch of Premium Trust Bank in Benin City, signaling a commitment to broader development initiatives for Edo State.
