Frontline aspirant for the Agaie/Lapai Federal Constituency, Muawiyah Yusuf Muye, has expanded his grassroots outreach with the distribution of writing materials to more than 100 schools across the constituency.
The initiative, which covered all 21 wards in Agaie and Lapai, is being described by stakeholders as one of the most extensive education-focused interventions by any aspirant in the area in recent times.
Speaking at the official flag-off held at LEA Primary School, Agaie, Muye said the programme was designed to ease the burden on parents and guardians who struggle to provide basic learning materials for their children. He noted that even essential items such as exercise books and pens remain out of reach for many families, making the intervention both timely and impactful.
He stressed that education is central to his vision for development, stating that “educating a child is equivalent to empowering a nation,” and emphasising that sustained investment in education delivers long-term societal benefits.
Reflecting on his background, Muye said he attended government-owned schools throughout his academic journey and was still able to compete favourably with peers from more privileged backgrounds. He maintained that with adequate support and improved standards, public school students can excel and compete globally.
The aspirant also highlighted the need for elected representatives to take a more proactive role in addressing grassroots challenges. According to him, governance is often left solely to state and federal authorities, whereas representatives can complement such efforts through targeted community-based interventions.
“True representation must translate into tangible impact,” he said. “Supporting our schools is one of the most effective ways to invest in our future while easing the burden on government.”
Reaffirming the philosophy behind his ambition, Muye said his campaign is rooted in service, compassion, and community development, reiterating his slogan, “Putting People First, Building Strong Communities.”
He also expressed appreciation to residents of Agaie and Lapai for their continued support, while calling for greater accountability and a renewed culture of genuine service in political representation.
In his remarks, the Director-General of the Muawiyah Yusuf Muye Campaign Organisation, Abubakar Idris Garba, described the initiative as a reflection of visionary leadership and a clear understanding of the people’s needs. He added that distributing writing materials across all wards would significantly ease financial pressure on parents and motivate pupils in their academic pursuits.
Similarly, a representative of the Chairman of Agaie Local Government, Musa Idrisu Boku, commended the effort, describing it as a welcome complement to government initiatives in the education sector. He noted that such support boosts students’ confidence and strengthens their belief in a brighter future.
The programme drew commendations from community leaders and stakeholders, many of whom praised Muye’s consistency in delivering people-oriented initiatives.
The intervention adds to Muye’s growing portfolio of community development efforts, including the provision of solar-powered boreholes, medical outreaches, and humanitarian support for inmates and students across the constituency.
With the distribution reaching over 100 schools—covering five schools in each of the 21 wards—Muye has further positioned himself as a strong advocate for education and grassroots development in the Agaie/Lapai Federal Constituency.
