Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konate has voiced his frustration after sustaining a knee injury that will rule him out of Sunday’s crucial Premier League showdown against Manchester City.

The injury occurred in the final moments of Liverpool’s 2-0 Champions League victory over Real Madrid, following a clash with Brazilian forward Endrick. Konate’s performances have been pivotal in Liverpool’s exceptional start under manager Arne Slot.

The Reds currently sit eight points clear at the top of the Premier League table, boasting a perfect record in their first five Champions League matches. Konate, 25, has been ever-present this season, starting every Premier League and Champions League fixture since coming on for Jarell Quansah in the season opener against Ipswich.
While Liverpool has not disclosed the full extent of the French international’s injury, reports suggest he could be sidelined for up to six weeks.

“So frustrating to pick up this injury right at the end of a great game on Wednesday night,” Konate shared on Instagram. “Now we start the recovery process, but one thing I promise is I will come back and be the best I can be once again. Thank you for the amazing support at Anfield.”
In Konate’s absence, England international Joe Gomez is expected to step in as his replacement, with Jarell Quansah also an option for manager Arne Slot.
