The Lagos-Ibadan Expressway and key routes around the Alausa-Secretariat axis in Lagos State were largely deserted on Saturday morning as residents observed movement restrictions imposed for the local government elections.
Roads that are typically busy experienced minimal vehicular movement, with several areas appearing quiet and empty.

Ahead of the polls, the Lagos State Police Command had announced a restriction of movement across the state, affirming its commitment to maintaining peace throughout the electoral process.
At about 7 a.m., officers of the Lagos State Police Command were seen stationed along Lagos Assembly Road, preparing for deployment to strategic locations within the area.
Despite voting scheduled to begin at 8 a.m., the area remained largely deserted as of 8:18 a.m., with only a handful of residents making their way to polling units.
The local government elections are taking place across the state’s 20 Local Government Areas (LGAs) and 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs).
