The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has commenced its nationwide Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise, beginning with an online pre-registration process.
The online phase, which went live on Monday, allows eligible Nigerians to register via the official portal, www.cvr.inecnigeria.org, before physical registration begins across the country on August 25, 2025. According to the commission, the physical exercise will take place at its 37 state offices and 774 local government area (LGA) offices.
The exercise targets citizens who have turned 18 and are registering for the first time, voters seeking to transfer their registration to a new location, and those requiring replacement of lost or damaged Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs). INEC stressed that multiple registrations will not be tolerated, warning that offenders would face sanctions.
To ease access and address concerns, the commission has made available a call centre with the number 0700-CALL-INEC (0700-2255-4632) and a short code, 4632, for inquiries.
INEC reiterated its commitment to expanding voter participation and strengthening Nigeria’s democratic process by ensuring every eligible citizen is given the opportunity to register ahead of future elections.
