President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, has said he constantly prays for Nigeria to succeed, warning that instability in the country could have wider regional consequences.

Mahama made the remark while speaking on concerns about Nigeria’s situation, stressing the importance of stability in Africa’s most populous nation.
“Every day I wake up, I pray for Nigeria and say, ‘God, let Nigeria get its act together,’” he said.

Highlighting the close ties between both countries, the Ghanaian leader noted that Nigeria’s progress is crucial not just for its citizens but for neighbouring states, including Ghana.

In another remark, he said, “We Ghanaians pray every day for Nigeria to do well so they don’t end up running to a small country like Ghana.”

Mahama’s comments underscore concerns about the potential spillover effects of economic or security challenges in Nigeria, given its influence within West Africa.

Nigeria and Ghana share long-standing diplomatic, economic, and cultural ties, with developments in one country often impacting the other.

The statement comes amid ongoing debates about governance, economic reforms, and security challenges in Nigeria, which analysts say remain critical to stability in the sub-region.
