Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has reaffirmed his commitment to improving the facilities at the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation camp in Damare, Girei Local Government Area.

This pledge is aimed at enhancing the camp’s suitability for activities and ensuring a conducive environment for corps members.

The governor’s promise was delivered during the 2025 orientation course for 1,700 Batch C Stream II corps members deployed to the state.

Represented by Dr. Edgar Amos, Chief of Staff at Government House, Yola, the governor highlighted the importance of the orientation course in preparing corps members to contribute meaningfully to national development.

Fintiri encouraged the corps members to embrace the opportunities available in Adamawa State, citing its favorable climate and the establishment of the Adamawa Investment Promotion Agency as avenues to thrive during their service year.

He urged them to integrate into the community, immerse themselves in the local culture, and foster healthy relationships while remaining security conscious.

In his address, the Chairman of the NYSC State Governing Board and Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Barrister Wali Yakubu, called on the corps members to actively participate in the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) program.

He emphasized that the initiative could transform them into job creators rather than job seekers, equipping them for life beyond their service year.

Meanwhile, NYSC State Coordinator, Mr. Ateli Samson, commended Governor Fintiri for his continued support of the scheme.

He highlighted the governor’s recent donations, which included 50 bags of rice, 10 cows, and 10 jerricans of oil for the corps members, as well as the increment of their allowances to N20,000 and improved feeding arrangements at the camp.

The event also featured the administration of the oath of allegiance by the State Chief Judge, Justice Hapsat Abdurrahman, who was represented by Justice Helen Hammanjoda.

These efforts, coupled with the governor’s promise of further upgrades to the camp, aim to provide an enriching experience for the corps members and foster their personal and professional development.
