The Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Shehu Mohammed, directed Commanding Officers to prioritize mobile court operations during the end-of-year enforcement period as part of efforts to ensure road safety and reduce accidents during the festive season.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, December 18, FRSC Spokesman, Assistant Corps Marshal Olusegun Ogungbemide, explained that the directive aims to enhance the Corps ability to promptly prosecute traffic offenders.

This swift prosecution, Ogungbemide said, acts as a strong deterrent to potential violators, emphasizing the need for strict adherence to traffic laws.

He further noted that utilizing mobile court operations allows authorities to efficiently address violations, ultimately reducing the occurrence of future offenses.

The initiative also promotes road safety and encourages accountability among drivers.

“To achieve maximum impact, Commanding Officers are expected to oversee the effective implementation of mobile court operations, collaborating with relevant stakeholders, particularly the judiciary, to ensure smooth prosecution of traffic violators,” Ogungbemide said.

Ahead of the operations, the Corps Marshal has also ordered comprehensive public awareness campaigns to educate road users on the importance of obeying traffic regulations.

Additionally, the Corps Marshal urged drivers and vehicle owners to ensure their vehicles are in proper working condition and that both their vehicle and driver’s licenses are up to date.

He stressed the need for strict observance of traffic laws, warning that violators would face prosecution.

“No driver will be spared if caught breaking the law,” he added.
