The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has issued a stern warning against unprovoked attacks on its officers, emphasizing that such actions will no longer be tolerated.
This declaration was made by Yakubu Mohammad, Commandant of the FRSC Road Marshal Assistants School in Shendam, Plateau State, during the closing ceremony of a one-week training program for Marshal Assistants on Friday.
Mohammad highlighted the corps’ zero-tolerance stance on the knockdown of marshals while they are on duty, stressing the importance of compliance with traffic regulations by motorists.
He stated, “Motorists should obey traffic rules and cooperate with the road marshals to prevent unprovoked knockdowns during patrol or rescue operations, as this will no longer be tolerated by the corps.”
The commandant urged the 415 Marshal Assistants who participated in the training to act as change agents in their respective commands, leveraging the skills and knowledge acquired to represent the Corps positively.
He expressed confidence that the training had provided participants with essential skills in rescue operations, enforcement, the use of technology, discipline, integrity, inter-agency collaboration, and maintaining civility towards the public.
Earlier, Corps Marshal Sheu Mohammed underscored the importance of continuous training and retraining to ensure personnel remain aligned with the Corps’ high standards.
He noted that the one-week course, themed “Repositioning FRSC for Enhanced Service Delivery in Patrol and Rescue Operations,” was crucial in enhancing the professionalism and effectiveness of the Road Marshal Assistants.
The course, which ran from August 25 to August 30, 2024, drew 415 participants from across the Corps, reaffirming their commitment to the FRSC’s mission of ensuring road safety through diligent service delivery.
