A French band added a vibrant cultural touch to a state dinner in Paris on Thursday by performing P-Square’s hit song “Testimony (Taste the Money)” in honour of Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The dinner, held at the prestigious Palais de l’Élysée, marked a key highlight of Tinubu’s three-day state visit to France, aimed at strengthening diplomatic and economic ties between the two nations.

A Cross-Cultural Tribute

In a now-viral video, the band delivered an energetic rendition of the Afrobeat classic, blending Nigerian rhythms with French artistry. The performance resonated with the audience, earning enthusiastic applause, including from President Tinubu and First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu, who appeared visibly delighted by the gesture.

The celebration of Nigerian music didn’t stop there. The band also performed “Mama Africa” by Bracket, showcasing more of the nation’s rich musical heritage on an international stage.

Strengthening Cultural Bonds

The choice of songs highlights the growing global appreciation for Nigerian music and culture. It also underscored the warm reception Tinubu received during his visit, which focused on fostering closer ties between Nigeria and France.

The state dinner and the musical tribute served as a symbolic gesture of goodwill, reflecting the shared values and deepening partnership between the two nations.

This memorable evening not only celebrated diplomatic progress but also spotlighted Nigeria’s cultural influence on the global stage.
